Blue Spruce Community is being created to offer an important housing choice for people with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities or “special needs”.
The Blue Spruce Community will encourage independent living and community engagement, anchored by a pragmatic support system. As the community members mature and age, they will have a continuity in living that allows for a consistent and predictable living environment.
To build and sustain Blue Spruce Community, we will require assistance from the people of our great community.
Below are 5 ways you can be involved in our community:
- Charitable Giving: We will depend on members of the community for charitable giving to sustain our staffing and to assist with minimal ongoing capital requirements associated with the Community. Our goal for this fund raising initially will be $800,000 and $325,000 on an ongoing basis.
- Volunteers: People will be able to assist Blue Spruce Community in many ways including mentor, front desk, kitchen, dining room, arts and crafts, social activities and employment support.
- Board Member Participation : We are seeking Board Members with appropriate work experience in Finance, Building/Development, Legal, Marketing, Fund Raising, Architecture, Public & Legislative experience and employer networking.
- Employer Network Development: A very important element for people with IDD is employment and one of the goals for Blue Spruce is to sustain and grow a network of employers who value the skills and work ethic of people with IDD.
- Annual Fund Raiser – Blue Spruce Community will host an annual fund raiser event and we will need volunteers to perform a variety of duties to support the event throughout the year.
